One of the key features of Meridian’s 561 Digital Surround Processor is its configurability to cater for the variations in user’s hi-fi systems. To make setting up the unit as easy as possible Meridian decided to allow the 561 to be configured using a Windows-based program, connected to the digital surround controller via a serial cable.
Meridian commissioned Human-Computer Interface to design a user interface for the configuration program, with examples showing how each of the different configuration options would be handled. The result was prototyped as a series of simulated screen displays showing the sequence of operations in a typical application.
